Recently, I have noticed my car leaving a few drops of motor oil per day on my garage floor. I took it to my local MB dealer and received a diagnosis of leaking cam plugs. Dealer quoted 2.5 hours of labor for the job. Not knowing much about the project, I decided to go back home and get myself educated. Based on my research, it supposedly was a pretty small job, the cost of the parts (3 plastic plugs) was less than $15, and the time needed for the replacement anything between 15 and 30 minutes. So, I decided to take on this challenge and Do-It-Myself. The above slideshow is a record of my work. Disclaimer: while it was pretty easy for me, I take no responsibility for anyone’s own actions. If you decide to take on this job yourself as well, and use my video in the process, you assume any and all risks. But I still wish you good luck! Cheers!
Plants are starting to fill out. Pruning accelerates growth as does weekly water changes I’m learning. Lights on 8am to 1pm then 6pm to 11pm… Less stress on plants just starting out. Seemed like 8 striaght hours of light was stressing the young plants out.
Discovering that out of all floating plants Dwarf water lettuce, frogbit, etc… I decided I like Salvinia best.. not too small and not too big plus the roots stay relatively small but look good. I’m learning that water current slows down their growth. All other plants thus far want more current. Catch 22.
Flurish Excel is being added every other day before the lights come on – just a capful. I have a 45 gallon tank.
Siamese Algea eater and Bristle Nose Pleco are keeping the tank immaculate. Feeding small quantity yet more often throughout the day. Frozen and Flake. Spirulina helps keep the fish feeling good – many benefits to Spirulina.
To remove dead spots in the tank I’m going to buy a circulation pump shortly. Opting for the magnet plus suction cup with 360 degree angles. More to come…
