Follow along and see how to remove a lawn tractor tire using a floor jack and a few other tools. This will allow you to easily transport your damaged tire for professional repair work or replacement.
Follow these easy steps to troubleshoot your tractor tire:
(1:29) Step 1: Examine the tire to determine where the air is leaking.
(1:33) Step 2: Spray window cleaner on the tire or submerge the tire in water to identify where the leak is located.
(1:51) Step 3: If there is a puncturing object such as a screw or nail, do not remove it at this time.
(2:01) Step 4: If you have damage in the sidewall area of the tire, the tire must be replaced. If you have damage in the tread areas of the tire a sealant can be used for the repair.
(2:50) Step 5: Follow the instructions on the label to use the sealant.
(2:59) Step 6: Raise and support the tractor and note the position of the valve stem.
(3:05) Step 7: Rotate the tires so the valve stem is in the five o’clock or seven o’clock position.
(3:11) Step 8: Lower the tractor back to the level position.
(3:14) Step 9: Slide one end of the transfer tube onto the bottle of the tire sealant.
(3:18) Step 10: Remove the valve core from the tire and slide the other end of the transfer tube on the valve stem.
(3:25) Step 11: Raise the container to a vertical position to identify the reference point of the sealant in the bottle.
(3:35) Step 12: Slowly squeeze the sealant into the tire and check until the suggested quantity has been installed.
(3:52) Step 13: Remove the transfer tube from the valve stem and reinstall the valve core into the valve stem.
(4:04) Step 14: Inflate the tire to the proper pressure.
(4:14) Step 15: If the tire has a puncturing object, it can be removed at this time.
(4:21) Step 16: Immediately drive the tractor three to five minutes to fully seal the tire.
(4:34) Step 17: To remove the front tire, place blocks under both ends at the rear. A floor jack should be used to raise the front of the tractor.
(4:46) Step 18: Slide the jack stands under the front axle and then remove the jack.
(4:55) Step 19: Next, remove the hubcap, clip ring, and washer from the wheel.
(5:06) Step 20: Slide the front wheel off the spindle.
(5:17) Step 21: Locate the hardened washer on the inside of the spindle and put it with the other parts.
(5:22) Step 22: You can now take the tire assemble to a tire repair facility.
(5:31) Step 23: The grease fitting at the hub of the wheel should be cleaned prior to reassembly.
(5:35) Step 24: Install the hardened washer onto the spindle followed by the front tire.
(5:41) Step 25: Install the washers, clip ring and hub cap.
(5:46) Step 26: Grease the fittings on both wheels and the front axle.
(6:08) Step 27: To remove the rear wheel, block the front wheel on the same side.
(6:11) Step 28: Remove the hub cap, e-ring, and washers.
(6:24) Step 29: Use a jack stand to raise the rear of the tractor and install a jack stand for support.
(6:30) Step 30: Remove the jack.
(7:05) Step 31: Place the axle key in the same container as the e-ring and washers.
(7:15) Step 32: Note the position of all the parts. Before reinstallation of the wheel assembly, distribute the anti-seize around the axle with a paper towel.
(7:31) Step 33: Make sure the washer and spacer have been installed.
